Body by body, day by day, yoga teacher Shannon Basham meets her students where they are— beginner or advanced, younger or older, flexible or not-so-flexible.
Shannon knows from her own 19 years of practice that yoga is not a one-size-fits-all proposition. With this in mind,
Private sessions are also available to help individuals or couples focus on specific goals.

After serving active duty in the U.S. Army for five years, Shannon completed a degree in Liberal Arts at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. She focused her studies on anatomy, physiology, exercise science, and gerontology. She began her career as a personal trainer, through her own struggles with stress, depression and back pain led her to yoga. As Shannon’s pain and anxiety subsided, she began to add breath work, posture awareness and slow, deep stretching to her fitness training. In 2009, under the guidance of Prana Flow teacher Gina Caputo, Shannon began her own journey to become a yoga teacher—even though she has very tight hamstrings!
Shannon brings a love of service to her teaching and enjoys watching the transformation that occurs with regular practice. She is a Certified Yoga Therapist, E-RYT 500/YACEP, completing her training through the Colorado School of Yoga in 2013. She holds certifications in Restorative Yoga from Judith Lasater and Chair Yoga with specific training for people living with disabilities and multiple sclerosis from Liz Franklin and Joann Lyons. In October of she completed Matthew Sanford’s Mind Body Solutions’ Opening Yoga Adapting Yoga for Disability Level I/II. Additionally, she is an ambassador for the Veterans Yoga Project. Her specific areas of study allow for an extra sense of compassion and caring in all of her classes.
For the past eight years, Shannon has taught yoga, meditation and fitness classes at Stowers Institute for Medical Research, Fairway Parks and Recreation, and the University of Kansas, Landon Center on Aging in addition to her private students.
